Answered: On the print dialogue box, I don't see the option to print WHITE, why?

Check within the COLOR tab, Color Management, to see if you have any WHITE channels in your SETUP. Here is a screenshot of what the print dialogue box will show if you do not have any White Channels in your SETUP (essentially, you won't see the option to print white):

Acrorip V10 is fully compatible with Windows 7 / 8 / 10.

It is recommended to NOT upgrade to Windows 11 as Windows 11 is still too new and not stable (it was only released in Oct 2021).

Compatibility of Acrorip with Windows 11 depends on Epson drivers' compatibility with Windows 11 as well as Intel and Microsoft's compatibility issues with certain versions of Epson drivers. RIP software simply utilizes the Epson drivers within the Windows Operating system, so as Epson updates their drivers (and users in turn download the latest Epson drivers from Epson's website), and as Microsoft also updates its Windows 11 OS as it identifies and repairs its own issues, Acrorip will begin to work as well.

It is therefore recommended to postpone updating your Windows version as much as possible to allow time for Epson to update its drivers, and for Microsoft to update and patch the Windows 11 OS. While we have noticed improvements and fixes, some compatibility issues may still remain.

Plain White works well

Print without white works well here printed on white T-shirt

BUT when I want to print WHITE+COLOR then everything turns messy.

I purchased a R3000 and it came with Acrorip 10.3. I have the dongle and have downloaded the software. When I hit print it acts like it is sending the print to the printer put it never hits the printer spool. I can print from other programs without any issue. I have printed a test page from Windows and the ports match to what is pulled up in Acrorip. I am at a loss. Any help greatly appreciated.

This error does not relates to the RIP software but co-related with "MEMORY PROBLEM" or "UNEXPECTED DAMAGE ON IMAGE FILE"

This Feature is Used When There is a Difference between the size of the print and the size configured in AcroRIP.

It is strongly recommended to NOT upgrade to Windows 11 as Windows 11 is too new and not stable (released Oct 2021), will require fixes and patches by Microsoft, and is not yet tested for compatibility with many printer drivers (or Acrorip).

WAVE IS ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE USED WITH UV PRINTERS - NOT FOR DTF OR DTG.

The main purpose of the WAVE is to reduce the optical banding phenomenon during UV printing from Epson modified LED UV flatbed printers (specially from Epson DX5 printhead) and also when the WAVE function is turned “ON” in ACRORIP10, the actual ink spray amount (=ink limit value) will be decreased about 30% less than when it is turned “OFF”.

So, if you are doing DTF or DTG printing, please have “WAVE” = OFF.

Acrorip V10.4 is compatible with the Epson ET-8500 and ET-8550 printers. In other regions of the world, these printers go by Epson L8180 and L8160. Acrorip is not currently designed to work with these printers so these drivers are not included with Acrorip V10.4, however there are reports of some users being successful utilizing the ET-8500 and ET-8550 drivers within Acrorip, to work with their L8180 or L8160. If you choose to try use Acrorip with L8180 or L8160, you do so at your own risk.

Effectively, there is no ICC profile that can serve all users. At least not 100%
Among many variables (ink/powder/film/image processing) that affect how the color will appears on the print, the PC screen affects user expectations most of all.
Each screen depicts colors of the same image more or less differently. As a result, user expectations will vary depending on the PC screen used and its settings.
Eventually, users will need to create their own ICC profiles according to their own individual setup. This is the only way that their printed color expectations can fully match the colors on their images.

Yes you can certainly request an upgrade to v10.4 if you have a genuine V10.3. The software upgrade requests are handled via this form.

Please note that paper feed issues may be related to printer sensors and/or rollers / grip (ie. dependent on printer modifications).

You can preview where the white ink will print by clicing on VIEW WHITE on the white tab:

Where white will print will depend on your image formatting, as well as your settings.

See below for an explanation of different settings:

The White Ink Control Tab allows you to configure the usage of white ink in your prints and has many configuration options to control the several aspects of using a white layer in your print. Every change that is made to the settings on this settings page will update the page preview screen.

White Layer Generation -

This drop down box Several methods to generate a white layer to provide a backing to your prints on dark objects so the color layer will stand out against the darker object. The following white layer generation options are available.

Fill all Area -

Will print a white layer the size of the image. See Illustration A.

* 100% White Under Any Colored Pixel -

This create a layer that places a white pixel any place a colored pixel is present. See Illustration B.

* NOTE: The definition of a "colored pixel" depends on how the image is formatted. Any areas of "white" on an image are not considered a "colored pixel" and therefore will not get white printing, if the image is not formatted as an RGB PNG file for example. See end of response for how this would affect a print.

Gradient White Under Any Colored Pixel -

This will create a gradient white output for every colored pixel in the image. You can use “White Ink Curve (Gradient White) setting to adjust the level of detail the gradient applies to, the gradient only applies to shades of black and gray a white mask is created for all other colors in the image. See Illustration C.

White Gradient (Negative) –

This setting will create a white gradient negative of the image A. Negative image will make dark areas white, white areas black, and other colors a shade of gray. See Illustration D.

White Gradient (Positive) –

This selection will create a white gradient positive for the image. A positive will make the dark areas black and the lighter areas white and any other color a shade of gray. See Illustration E.

Spot Color (TIFF RGB) –

Will create a white positive mask for any non-transparent pixel that is in the TIFF RGB color space. See Illustration F.

* Regarding the "100% white under any colored pixel", your white printing will depend also on how the image is formatted. As mentioned earlier, the image formatting (JPG vs PNG, RGB mode etc) will affect what is considered a "colored pixel" and will therefore determine where white ink is laid out if you use the setting "100% white ink behind colored pixels". The 2 images below are created differently (different formats), and therefore colored pixels are sensed differently, so white ink will print (or not print) accordingly:

Select your printer inside the PRINTER tab. Then in the COLOR tab you will see the ink channels, and you can click to setup/customize, and let the software know in which channels you have what color ink.

If a COLOR ( CMYK) Nozzle is clogged, the CUSTOM CHANNEL Setup feature allows CHANNEL SUBSTITUTION. For example, if yellow is clogged, use a WHITE CHANNEL and use YELLOW INK in that CHANNEL and Close off the original Yellow channel. Simpler example is change the white cartridge for a yellow one, in the working channel, and make that setting in the setup menu. This feature is useful in DTG and DTF systems to allow the use of the head, even with clogged channel(s). Basically allows you to continue to use a clogged head, since you have 2 or 4 white in channels as substitutionary.

AcroRIP 10 roll printing with large format (e.g. Epson 4880)

Hi!

we are currently using an Epson R1800 printer for DTF prints but the maintenance (as it is a personal desktop printer) just isn't great for the volume we are printing. We are facing the 'red blinking light of death' over and over and fixing is always a pain due to the small size and lack of proper maintenance tools beside the adjustment tools.

We are currently considering either switching to the Epson 4880 or 7880 as we are using a couple of larger Epson printers and those are all great to maintenance and very reliable.

What we would require though is an option to roll print on DTF film using the 4880 oder 7880. I noticed that Acrorip 10 is supposed to fix the roll printing issue present in version 9 (roll printing not working with white layers).

Hence my question, would we be able to use DTF roll film with Acrorip 1ß and either the Epson 4880 oder 7880?

In order to print with White only you need to 1st make sure that you have your ink channels correctly set up. (in the Color tab) select the channels as they appear in your printer - below is an example only

Then proceed and select Print and make sure that White copies is selected to 1 and everything else is 0 and not checked.

The 3880 uses an 8 channel printhead. The printer takes 9 cartridges but the last 2 (Matte Black and Photo Black) are actually 1 channel which is subdivided from 2 lines.The 9nth channel can never be used for an extra color. The cartridge needs to however just sit in and be installed.

In Acro10 , you can set up the ink sequence per your choice as it has Custom channel settings feature in it but still many customers choose to use the standard/Old way for the ink sequence.

Here below is user(s) feedback on how they prefer to use their printer with Acro10 software-

Can be setup two ways

3800 cartridge configuration is KCMY+WWWW

Can be setup to use 3880-3885A print engine - xKWWCMWWY

Don't use matte black , you can fill the 9th cartridge with K or can leave it empty

That setting will allow color and white ink printing.

Customers depending on the results they are looking for use the color settings, some use 1440x720 on both color and white with ink % on higher side(though for DTF printing we recommend low ink%) and some use 1440x1440 bidirectional aprox 35% C and 40%W to start with medium+large dot size for getting the desired results. You will need to adjust the settings according to the logo/design you are using to print.

Few settings always matters while printing using Acrorip for the images to come out the correct size, Please see below-

1) Check if you have set the correct "Paper Size" for your printer. For instance-

-Correct "Paper Size" for L1800 is 329mm(W) x 650mm(H)

-Correct "Paper Size" for XP15000 should be 210mm(W) for A4 and 329mm (W) for A3.

2) Check if "Page Margin Setup" from "File" menu is correctly set as default or not. Correct default values for "Page Margin Setup" are "Left : 0.000mm" and Top : 0.000"

(Pls note that the end users must not change these default values if his printer has no problem with it's print starting point)

3) Check if he set "Printout -size Revision" from "File" menu correctly or not. Correct default values for "Printout-size Revision" are "Horizontal Size : 300mm" and "Vertical Size : 500mm"

(Pls note that the end users must not change these default values if his printer has no problem with actual print scale)

There must be no scaling up problems if the customers did not change above default values before his printing job.

You may either leave the 9th slot on the right-hand side of your printer empty or put an empty cartridge on top of it. There is no need for any kind of liquid to be inserted into the specific inlet/printhead area.
